Bedale Sharks ASC is run by a Management
Committee which is elected each year at the Annual General
Meeting, and is run under the Laws of the Amateur Swimming
Association, to which it is affiliated via the Yorkshire ASA, and
the North Eastern Counties ASA.
Coaching
The Coaching Staff are ASA qualified.
At a novice level children are taught the basics of all the
swimming strokes using the structured Learn to Swim Scheme and we
hope that one day they will represent the club and swim in
competitions.
Swimmers are regularly assessed to ensure continued progress
towards any goals they may be set. Swimmers are not pressured and
are given the opportunity to progress.
Competitions
There is a competitive element in the club and we encourage
swimmers to take part in competitions, either to represent the club
or to swim individually, depending on the kind of competitions
available. However, there is no obligation to compete - swimming is
for enjoyment as well!
For away galas the team and supporters travel by coach, which is
usually provided by the club. A range of graded competitions are
entered so that swimmers of all levels of achievement are given the
opportunity to represent the club. The club enters teams in the
North Yorkshire League and Ridings League.
Over three Saturdays of each calendar year we hold the annual
Club Championships, in which all swimmers are encouraged to take
part, including beginners!
